Resignation Letter for Unfair Treatment

Resignation letters are a way of leaving a company or institute where you no longer wish or desire to work. The resignation must be given 45 days before you intend to leave the company so that the company can hire a new individual in your place. Resignation can be given by an employee if he/she finds a better job in some other organization with a better pay offer or if he/she is moving from the current city to another or any unfair treatment by any supervisor in the company where the employee has been working.

A resignation letter is either given to the HR department of the company or your immediate boss. When either of the body of the organization accepts your resignation, from that day to the end of the 45th day you are to serve in the company fulfilling all your duties and responsibilities.

After the end of 45 days period, the employee handovers all the information whether documented on paper or any other device to the organization thus returning all the company belongings entrusted to him/her. A resignation letter puts an end to an employee’s services for a particular organization or institute.

The letter opens by addressing the required individual or body that you as an employee no longer wish to work in the company. After this, the employee needs to state the reason for his/her leaving the company. If an employee is a part of any ongoing project undertaken by the company, he/she must state the name of that project in the letter and then assure the company of its completion prior to his leaving the company or suggest an alternate for its completion.

In a resignation letter at the topmost left corner, the employee writes the name of the individual to whom he/she is giving his/her resignation along with the designation and department name if applicable.

Below, the employee mentions his/her current position in the organization followed by the date on which the resignation is drafted and the subject of the letter. The letter should be written in a professional tone and manner and no harsh words should be used as this does not appear good to the person reading the letter and ultimately approving it.

Mr. John,
Manager Sales,

Dated: 12th October 20XX

Subject: Resignation letter due to unfair treatment.

Respected Mr. James,

I have been working in your company for the past ten years in the capacity of Manager Sales. I had enjoyed working with such great people and have had the opportunity of learning with every passing day. My performance has also improved over the years which is clearly visible from my performance appraisal. Due to my good performance, I was expecting a promotion last year but was declined one.

The company had chosen another individual at my place for promotion though his points on the performance appraisal form were lower than mine. I at that time did not say anything and accepted the individual’s promotion wholeheartedly. But unfortunately, the following year again I have declined promotion.

When I was declined promotion last year, I worked harder towards fulfilling my goals and was of much hope that the next year I will surely get promoted to a newer position, unfortunately, this did not happen. It seems that all my efforts go in vain and it is for this reason that I wish to resign from the company with immediate effect.

It was very nice working with you over the years but now I won’t be able to render more of my services to the company. Please accept my resignation.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr. John,
Manager Sales,
HRM Textiles.
